I bought these dumbbells to accompany my Chalean Extreme workouts. Chalene’s motto is, “Go heavy or go home.” I am only in the middle of my third week and have already increased my ability to lift by more than half so these weights are perfect for keeping up with me. These weights allow for a 2.5 lb increment increase, however the dumbbell will be unbalanced which doesn’t seem to throw me off balance, so i don’t mind this. When you are lifting heavy for shorter reps, you do not stay at one weight amount for long anyway. These weigths do not come with the Power of 10 video as described.

I changed my review from a 1 to a 5…here’s why I am impressed. First, I had a Tanita scale; it told me my weight, body fat, water weight, bone weight, if my toe nails needed to be cut, etc. However, I could not read the display and as executive/non-athlete I did not need all this information. When that scale died, I went looking for a good solid simple scale. I liked the way this scale looked and the reviews on Amazon were good. Plus, the price was great. I got it right away, and it was great. Looked good, easy to read, and I liked the 0.2 denominations. However, unfortunately it stopped working after two weeks. I went to return it on Amazon and posted a disappointing review. Then the most amazing thing happened…this really happened…about an hour after I posted my review, I was contacted by the company. They read my review and apologized that my unit was not operating the way that it was supposed, discussed their high quality control and that this should not have happened, and then they sent me a replacement right away. This is going to be a lengthy review, so if you are looking for the Reader’s Digest version, here it is: If you are in any way contemplating this purchase, stop reading and buy it.

Now, on to the review…

I have owned this device for a week. I am a 37 year old male with approximately 25 lbs to lose. I have a sedentary job and joined a gym 6 weeks ago. I have had a back injury for 7 months and am slowly geting back into the groove.

When I first received it, the unit was not charged, so I had to be patient and wait the 3 hrs it takes to fully charge it. As others have stated, it is not at all cumbersome or uncomfortable. In fact, I often forget that I am wearing it. After it was charged, I had difficulty getting my computer to recognize it. I later learned, through the assistance of Customer Service, that the problem was due to a Java update. They assisted me in getting past this, and that has been the only hiccup so far.

The device is, quite simply, amazing. For starters, anyone doubting the sleep tracker will be in for a huge surprise. It is incredibly accurate. I conciously paid attention to when I went to bed and looked up at the clock a few moments before I fell asleep. In the morning when I uploaded the numbers, it showed me the same exact times and results.

As far as nutrition tracking and calorie consumption, it would have been nice for everything to be included, but, as another reviewer stated, it is easy enough to track your nutrition using a free program like the one at sparkpeople (search for that word if you don’t know what it is). Even without using an outside program, the gowear does have nutrition assessment or it can estimate your caloric intake based upon the statistics you provide when you first set up the armband.

In addition, the gowear fit Activity Manager displays your calorie balance, duration of activity (including the intensity of it), and steps. I also just discovered that it exports your data to a Microsoft Excel page that you can store on your computer and use to track your long-term success.

This device is an incredible motivator. During the first few days that I had it on, I did not go to the gym because I wanted to get a baseline of my normal activities. When I finally started to go to the gym, I was thrilled by my Calories Burned…until I recorded my food for the day and saw that I was simply breaking even. With such instant feedback, I altered my eating habits, and in the last 3 days I lost 3 lbs. I know that water is the first to go when one begins a diet, but I also saw the 2,000 calorie deficit that I had yesterday alone, and I know that after the water is gone, I will continue to lose.

I cannot recommend this product highly enough. If you are competetive and have no challengers to motivate you, let me introduce you to the GoWear Fit. When you see those numbers, you will have all the competition you need.

EDIT (January 16, 2009)—I have continued to wear the device since I posted my review, and nothing about my opinion has changed. The device works perfectly and actually becomes a part of your body. There have been several times when I had one foot in the shower and had to back out because I forgot that I was wearing it. The only drawback to this, as far as I’m concerned, is that it does get a tiny bit irritating on my arm. I tend to keep it in the same spot, and every once in a while, I have to relocate it.

For those wondering about weight loss, I have not exercised in 2 weeks under doctor’s orders due to a back injury. However, when I first got the device and used it in conjunction with sparkpeople, I had a calorie deficit of 1000-1200 calories a day, and, sure enough, I dropped 3.5 pounds very quickly. I wear it, on average, 22 hrs a day or so and have not had to charge it for more than an hour at a time—-I’m actually amazed at how long the batteries last. I will begin working out again next week and will edit this again with results.

EDIT (April 16, 2009)—Again, device works perfectly…no changes whatsoever. I actually didn’t use it for 2 weeks back in March, and even though I never bothered to charge it during this time, it retained its charge and worked perfectly as soon as I put it on.

It seems that some of the negative reviews on here are a little unfair—for one thing, it is not the fault of the device if you have sensitive skin and get a rash. Secondly, if you dont bother to read any of these reviews or THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT COME WITH THE DEVICE, dont waste people’s time by posting negatively.

There is no software that comes with the device.

There is no monitor on the device; you must purchase it separately.

If you do not purchase the monitor, you MUST subscribe to the online service in order to view your numbers and to upgrade the firmware.

I don’t mean to sound so negative, but some of the comments on here are a bit ridiculous. The only negative comment that I can agree with is in regards to customer support. In my initial review I stated that I had Java issues and couldn’t get online. Like others, I tried contacting the company but, initially, had problems. The issue was eventually handled within 2 days, and it has been clear sailing ever since. There is no excuse for poor customer service; however, when it is functioning properly, the Gowear Fit is perfect.

This is my fourth HRM and by far the best. The display is big and very readable even in dim light without using the indiglo. My last two HRMs were the older model Timex Ironman 100 lappers. They became very unreliable even with new batteries. I used to have to use electrode gel just to get them to work at all. This HRM gives me an accurate reading immediately and continues to do so as my heart rate changes during my workout. It works great even without electrode gel. It doesn’t have any fancy features but I don’t need them. It does record your time in the zone that you can set and you average and peak heart rates. It also has a recovery time feature that measures how many BPM your HR drops in one minute. The sensor belt will also work with the HR display most treadmills and other indoor machines. This HRM has already improved my training significantly because it is so accurate and responsive. I highly recommend it.

Being a person who hasn’t ever joined a gym, I never knew stuff like this existed. I was very interested in this item because I’ve been walking for exercise but wasn’t really sure I was reaching my target heart rate consistently.

The monitor, which displays the time as well as your heart rate on a watch, works in conjuction with a gizmo that you strap around yourself, just under your chest. (I will tell you, since I was concerned about this, that it’s hardly noticeable once it’s in place…it’s a 12″ or so long piece of plastic with an adjustable elastic strap…not very bulky at all!) The monitor also features a stopwatch and an alarm, so that after you set your minimum & maximum desired heart rates, you can be alerted when you are out of range. The alarm is a “beep-beep” that I can hear over the book on tape I drag along with me. Your heart rate is updated every second or two so you will always know if you need to pick up the pace a bit.

Although I have not yet had to do so, the chest strap has a removable backing, and you apparently can change the battery yourself (this is a big deal, I guess, since some of the more expensive monitors require that you send them to the factory for a battery change). The elastic strap is also completely removable, which makes it very easy to wash (and you will need to if you’re exercising!).

The monitor comes packaged in a small, zippered carrying case, and includes an attachment that allows you to place it on a bicycle handlebar.

This does everything I need it to, and I recommend it for anyone who is just getting started in an exercise program.

I found the travel size at Target in the “Salon Care” section and thought I’d give it a try even though it was $5 for a 1.5oz can. I have been hooked on this fragrance ever since I got a little sample tube from Sephora! I alternate my fragrance according to my mood, but the fruity tones, and its magical blend with flowers makes me feel like I belong in one of those catalogue ads (you know, the ones with the girls with that no-makeup, tousled hair look). It’s a very clean, unfussy scent, with a distinctive citrusy impact upon first whiff, but it builds into a more floral scent as you adjust your smell, but regardless of that, it just makes you feel elegant and playful at the same time. A young woman I work with smells GREAT. I can tell when she has recently been in any room at work because that great smell lingers even after she has gone. One day I was in the department store at the fragrance counter, and started just smelling different womans perfumes. When I smelled this one I stopped dead in my tracks. I am not sure why but this smell absolutely drives me crazy. It is such an alluring and attractive smell. Soon after smelling it I came home jumped online and bought one (like I am going to pay department store prices).

Let me just say sometimes she sprays some on my pillow to be mean to me. When she does that I can NOT sleep at night. That smell just drives me crazy, I cant stop sniffing it and it drives me wild. I am not alone. Everyone I know who has smelled it loves it. Most men agree with me that the smell just drives them nuts.

Ladies if you just want to smell nice but not attract any men this perfume is not for you. Trust me when your wearing it Men will be drawn to you and driven crazy by your precense. I have used Eternity since I was a teenager (15 years of Eternity!!) and I have never received so many compliments. This perfume is nothing but light, airy, and elegant. No cheap perfume smell here. You will not blow poeple away with this, but you will definitely make an impression. My best friend, who happens to be a male, says that whenever he takes me out in his car, I leave my “essence” behind. He says this with a big smile. He says that the smell makes him feel like he’s gotten a “big hug”.

Over time, Eternity fades to a more subtle but still quite sweet and feminine scent. I do like it, but since I tend to prefer scents with woodsy/musky undertones, Eternity is not one of my favorites. However, this fragrance would be a good match for someone looking for a floral scent that works for both daytime and evening wear; overall, I’d rate it 3 1/2 to 4 stars.

I am shocked. I bought these with much doubt. They seemed so… silly. But I wanted to be able to hide a little tummy and try to fit into pants that had gotten pretty tight. I just love these, jeans fit better, skirts and no panty lines. One looks like they have lost weight or if you are losing weight you look better and people will ask how did you lose weight so quickly. All my clothes fit better jeans look great with no panty line. These are worth the money and make sure you buy one size up then your normal size they will fit better and easier to get on. I love these and all the hype about them is so true. I bought my first pair about four years ago and was quite pleased with them. They are like a heavy duty control top panyhose but they really lift and tuck the goopy stuff.

Recently while trying on some new skirts I turned around and was dismayed at what appeared in the mirror! Horrors! My butt has gone south, but not to worry, I tried the said skirts on with my Spanx and that solved my problem. Now the twins back there look nice and perky…well, not like when I was 16, but maybe when I was a 33 year old dance teacher.

The waist and thighs stay in place, no rolling there. Even though I’m a size 2 it does take a little more “work” to get these babies on. But once they are in place, wow!

Just got my new pair, and for ME the secret was to go two sizes up. I am 5′4″ and weigh 145… according to the chart I’m a B… but the C was even too small for me. Just got the D, and bingo! Perfect! Doesn’t seem to roll, and I might actually be able to breathe in the thing. Those who haven’t been happy before, try going two sizes up… worked for me~ five stars now!

My previous review:
I am completely torn about my rating on this one. On the positive side, this product shaves ten pounds off my appearance, easily. So five stars for that. Two negatives though… First, I ordered a size up (from what is recommended at Spanx.com), as everyone seems to suggest. They are still VERY tight, and still roll down. Secondly, I have not even worn them yet… I only tried them on twice with my Maid of Honor gown… maybe had them on for a total of fifteen minutes each time… and all of the stitching on the waistband started to come out in a big, long unravel. It happened in two different places on the waistband. If I hadn’t bought them so long ago (well in advance of the wedding), I would have returned them and requested a new pair. Now, I’m here to order another pair, and I think that this time I’ll try ordering two sizes up, and see if that stops the rolling problem. I will save the second, damaged pair as a backup for the wedding day. Those two issues caused me to take away two of the five stars that these could potentially be (for me, anyway). One more thing… as it stands now, I couldn’t imagine wearing these every day… it really is a GIRDLE! But for a special occasion, or a night out on the town, yessiree!! They do really suck you in and give you that figure you wish you had! (Maybe not recommended for going out to dinner, if you plan to eat more than a salad LOL!)
